What is it that keeps us from Trusting Him Perfectly?

By the Death of self.

The great hindrance to Trust is self-effort.

So long as you have your own wisdom and thoughts and strength, you cannot Fully Trust God.

But when God Breaks you down, when everything begins to grow dim before your eyes and you see that you understand nothing, God is Coming Nigh.

If you will Bow Down in Nothingness and Wait Upon God.

He will Become All.

As long as we are something, God cannot Be All, and His Omnipotence cannot do Its Full Work.

That is the Beginning of Faith – Utter Despair of self, a Ceasing from man and everything on earth, and Finding our Hope in God Alone.

What God is now doing is the Pruning Work of the Vinedresser.

In our souls there is an uncontrolled development, an untimely growth, that has to be Checked and Dealt with.

God must cut that off.

Angry at Satan

Children of God should be angry at Satan and should detest him.

By being angry and showing abhorrence they cease experiencing the wearing down of the enemy.

Flesh

Flesh

They endeavor to reform their old state, and to be made perfect in the flesh, instead of putting it off and walking according to the New State in Christ.

They trust on low carnal things for Holiness, and upon the acts of their own will, their purposes, resolution, and endeavors, instead of Christ, and they trust to Christ to help them in this carnal way,

Whereas True Faith would Teach them that they are nothing, and that they do but labor in vain.

and this is the testimony, that God gave continuous life to us, and this life is in His Son; he who is having the Son has life; he who is not having the Son of God does not have life.
